Winkler Botanical Preserve
Welcome to the Winkler Botanical Preserve. A private 44-acre green oasis in the middle of the Mark Center. Created by the Winkler family's Catherine Winkler Herman and her daughter Tori Thomas and the Winkler Foundation in 1981 as a way to protect this unique and special area during the development of the Mark Center. This private preserve is open to the public and is used as a teaching resource for the city of Alexandria schools. A wonderful amenity situated right in the heart of the Mark Center.
Multiple trails, streams, lake, and waterfall along with a private lodge (The Catherine Lodge) surrounded by woods and native plants make this a great green escape from the surrounding urban community.
The Park can be accessed through the parking lot at the end of Roanoake Aven. Limited spots are available.
